Catalysis is a cornerstone for Green Chemistry Innovation:
- reduce energy consumption
- reduce chemical waste generation
- increase synthetic efficiency
Catalysts are commonly employed within many industrial sectors, and synthetic catalysts have been used to advantage over the past century. Of course, living systems have always provided an inspirational array of catalysts – enzymes.
Catalysis is a long-standing research strength at UBC within both the Department of Chemistry and the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering. To build upon this legacy UBC3D aims to provide:
- a virtual community of experts from a variety of disciplines
- a CFI/BCKDF funded multi-user facility to expedite cutting-edge research
- a resource for building connections and partnerships
